Nekky II Salt-Water Kiddies Pools

Location:
Zlín, Czech Republic

Year of completion:
2008

Project description:
The first kiddies´ pool with salt water in the Zlín region was opened on November 14, 2008. The pool is housed in the former boiler plant at Jižní Svahy, the largest housing estate in Zlín. The project was fully completed within 6 months.
This swimming centre for children three to six years of age and their parents offers a vinyl liner pool 10m x 5.3m with 1.2m water depth. The pool-water temperature lies between 30 and 32°C.
The pool utilises the technology of water disinfection based on hypochlorous acid produced by electrolytic decomposition of saline solution NaCl. Its principle consists in dissolving salt (NaCl) in pool water, using concentrations between 0.3 and 0.5 % (i.e. 3–5 kgs/m3).
The electrode cell producing sodium hypochlorite is integrated into the pool piping. The system has been provided with an ozonation unit to ensure perfect disinfection of pool water.
The feedback from visitors, big and small, is very positive. The pool water is clear, sparkling, very pleasant and non-irritant, featuring anti-septic effects on skin. Even after a long bathing and contact with water, eyes are free of stinging and red colour.
Therefore, this is a perfect option for mums with kids that suffer from allergy to chlorine. We believe this water centre will bring joy and positive experience to many children and their parents, hopefully also to Centroprojekt´s employees and their children.
