Project description:
A challenging conversion of the former Svit shoe factory buildings. After years during which the buildings were almost not being used, the Regional Authority launched a renovation project to bring the former industrial buildings to life again.
A new paved yard was constructed between the buildings. It is used for unconventional installations, concerts and other outdoor events.
Although built after WWII on the site of the bombed and demolished buildings, they bear all features typical for the Bata functionalism style. Due to its favourable position at the eastern border of the former factory premises, both dominant buildings are fully exposed to general view.
The buildings now house three public institutions, namely the Museum of South Eastern Moravia, Regional Fine Arts Gallery and František Bartoš Regional Library.
